The Edward Hopper House gives depth to an artist whose honest representation of life in America perennially evokes both contemplation and reflection. We celebrateand advance the legacy of Edward Hopper through artifacts, photography, and exhibitions of artists inspired by the iconic painter.

This house was built in 1858 by the maternal grandfather of the renowned American artist Edward Hopper (1882-1967), and served as his primary residence until 1910. After Hoppers death, the house fell into disrepair, but was saved from demolition and restored by members of the local community. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

2021 marks the 50th Anniversary of the formation of the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center. In 1971, shortly after Edward Hopper's death, a group of volunteers banded together to preserve his childhood home in Nyack, New York. Today the house is a non-profit museum and study center that celebrates Hopper's legacy through artifacts, programs, and exhibitions inspired by America's iconic painter.
