The Gathering Place

Gathering Place Interfaith Ministries is a volunteer-managed non-profit 501c3 which serves Brazoria County families affected by dementia and provides education about prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Alzheimers disease. Can we count on your bid to continue our mission?


Our Programs:

Gathering Place Socials -Gathering Places are hosted by area congregations; trained volunteers offer socials from 10 am to 2 pm once each month at each church. Caregivers may leave their family members who have memory disorders and use that time to rest.Participants enjoy reminiscing, exercise, music, dance, arts and crafts, games, and a hot lunch

Compu.Talk - Thirteen volunteers- retired teachers and licensed speech and exercise therapistprovide activities three mornings a week.

Brain Camp - Is a unique program that teaches adults how to increase their cognitive reserve by creating new brain neurons which may provide a defense against neurodegenerative disease.

Meta Camp -Forty seven million Americans, 1 out of every 6 people, have Metabolic Syndrome. It is not a disease. Rather, it is a collection of risk factors for cardiac disease and dementia. The syndrome directly relates to insulin resistance. At Meta Camp we work with people to learn how to control there Metabolic Syndromethough diet and exercise.

Brazoria County Alzheimer's Awareness Project - Provide information about dementia and to encourage early detection. Annual activities include: Caregiver Conference, Resource Fairs, Recognition and Response Training for First Responders.
