Weare getting closer to completing the construction of our school in Awasi, Kenya! We want to provide clean drinking water to our students, as well as flushable toilets instead of pit latrines. We need your help to make this possible! Funds from this online auction will be used to purchase land, dig our well, and install solar-panel powered pumps to bring water to this community.

According to UNICEF, Kenya has 9.4 million people who drink directly from contaminated surface water sources, which is the third-largest in sub-Saharan Africa. They also found that only 14% of Kenyans have hand-washing facilities with soap and water at home. Contaminated water and poor sanitation increase transmission of cholera, hepatitis A, typhoid, and other infections that can cause severe health issues and death. Providing clean water to our students and community will improve their health, decrease the number of cases of infection and death due to these transmitted diseases, and meet their basic needs, enabling them to not only survive but thrive.
